This structure is one of a number of free-standing outbuildings at an antebellum estate in the hills outside of Lexington, Virginia. Originally the Kitchen House (see the oversize cooking fireplace in what is now the Entry Hall), the building has had a number of functions over the years, including a stint as a potter’s studio. The current incarnation is a two-bedroom Guest House with a Great Room that includes the Kitchen and Dining Area. The building was completely redone on the interior, as well as opening up the end wall of the Great Room to the expansive views of the mountains. The old Screen Porch was enclosed as the larger of the two Guest Rooms, while space in an attached Storage Shed was enclosed to become a spacious Bathroom.
